IVN Institute for Nature Education and Sustainability

Type: Green Initiatives

IVN Institute for Nature Education and Sustainability is a national association with local departments. IVN Veldhoven Eindhoven Vessem is such a branch, whose working area is the municipalities of Veldhoven, Eindhoven and part of the municipality of Eersel (the centres Vessem, Knegsel and Wintelre).

The department was created by merging IVN Veldhoven-Vessem and IVN Eindhoven in 2013 and has about 320 members. The aim of IVN Veldhoven Eindhoven Vessem is to generate interest in nature and the environment through their activities. They want to increase public knowledge about this. Through various activities, they protect and develop nature in the Eindhoven area.

The association building "D'n Aard" is located in Veldhoven. It is used for meetings of the board and working groups, for courses and youth activities and also serves as a workshop and for storing materials. The building is completely surrounded by the "Jo van Dun butterfly garden". The garden contains nectar and host plants for butterflies, caterpillars and other insects, as well as a swamp and a pond with frogs, toads and salamanders.

Although IVN's lectures are Dutch, they gladly welcome English-speaking members and volunteers. If you would like more information, please get in touch by sending an email to ivn.vev@gmail.com
